Planning your trip
These campgrounds are run by Western Australia's Parks and Wildlife Service. Many can be booked through Explore Parks WA, and park entry fees apply. Most are reached by long unsealed roads, some suitable only for high-clearance four-wheel drives.
The Kimberley's dry season, roughly May to October, is the main camping season. Many roads and campgrounds close in the wet season, and saltwater crocodiles live in rivers and gorges. Carry water, fuel and supplies, and check road conditions and alerts on Explore Parks WA before you set out.
